Grand Forks, ND: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The University of North Dakota Wind Ensemble and Chamber Orchestra will present a concert on Saturday, April 26, at 7:30 p.m. The performance will be held at the Chester Fritz Auditorium on the UND campus. Tickets, available at the door, are $6.00 for adults, $3.00 for students and senior citizens, or $12.00 per family.
The Chamber Orchestra, Dr. Chung Park, conductor, will open the concert with the Suite for Clarinet and String Orchestra of Ernst Krenek. Elizabeth Rheude, Associate Professor of Clarinet at UND, will be the featured soloist. They will also perform Franz Joseph Haydn's Symphony No. 86 in D Major.
The Wind Ensemble, conducted by Dr. James Popejoy, will open their portion of the program with the always exciting Overture to "Candide" of Leonard Bernstein, followed by William H. Hill's award winning composition, Danses Sacred and Profane. Eric Whitacre's Godzilla Eats Las Vegas!, a unique and fun work for both the players and audience alike, will round out their portion of the concert.
The two ensembles will join forces to close the concert with performances of Percy Grainger's Ye Banks and Braes O' Bonnie Doon; and King Cotton by John Philip Sousa.
